Photographs of Washington State University sports, 1906-1966, bulk 1912-1916.

The collection consists of WSU athletic photographs from 1912-1916, most of which are of football and include the 1916 Rose Bowl game. A few of the photographs are of the WSU baseball and track teams. Also included are photographs of the 1966 Rose Bowl reunion, a 1906 photo of Hack Applequist as a wrestler and two photographs of a pit mine in Butte, Montana, ca. 1920.

Athlete and coach at Washington State University, Harry "Hack" Applequist attended WSU and received a degree in geology in 1916. He played tackle on the undefeated 1915 football teamwhich went to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on January 1, 1916 and defeated Brown University. Athletic Director J. Fred Bohler later offered Applequist a position as assistant football coach and head baseball coach from 1923-1926. Applequist died November, 1976 in Sacramento at the a...
